Mortar and brick drink water. Under a dry sky nobody would notice. Newcastle's wetter season lasts about 6.8 months according to WeatherSpark, the odds of a wet day staying above 34 percent for that whole span, while the Western Regional Climate Center's state narrative has rain or snow falling on 20 to 25 days, sometimes more, in each of western Washington's wettest winter months. January humidity west of the Cascades eases only from about 87 percent at 4 a.m. down to 78 percent at 4 p.m., per that same narrative, so winter air cannot pull much moisture back out of a wall.
